bar have the honour to acknowledge

the receipt yesterday of your Confidential Despatch of the

19th. May on the subject of the establishment of a wire-

-less telegraph station at Hongkong and to inform you that

on the 12th. January last the Commander-in-Chief on the

China Station wrote to me that after considering the

Admiralty objection to the proposed site at Cape d'Aguilar

and making a further examination of it and of other pos-

-sible sites he was convinced that it could not be improved

upon.

2.

issued instructions that while the Colonial signalling at

Cape D'Aguilar was to go on for the present facilities

were to be given for certain experimental work to be car-

-ried on from there by the Naval Authorities.

3.

I enclose copies of subsequent

correspondence
